Role of the Parent

Parents are very much a part of the process of the education of the child. Therefore they must have the interest in critically examining deeply held assumptions. They must have the courage to stand on their own in the face of convention and pattern. For all these and ongoing challenges, time, space and energy are needed.

Regular, continuing dialogue will be a feature of the programme of the school. Very frequent study meets will be organised, where fundamental issues of life and education will be examined in the light of the teachings of Krishnamurti. Parents must, in the spirit of freedom, commit themselves to participating in as many of these meetings as possible. This ensures harmony between the home and school.

Parental interaction is inherent to the running of the school but the interaction needs to be sensitive to the educational process and to what the school needs.

It must be understood that only those who are deeply interested in the teachings of Krishnamurti and in self-inquiry and can give their energies in a substantial way to the school will take responsibility for the direction of the school and administrative decisions. There will of course be others, friends and well-wishers, who will support the activities of the school in various ways.
